Steep hills rise from the main park area, providing the landscape to create a downhill skiing area and inviting the adventurous to explore the park's remote areas as well as the adjoining Susquehannock State Forest lands. Northern hardwood forests provide habitat for a variety of wildlife including bear, deer and turkey. The park is within the headwaters of the Pine Creek watershed and part of the much larger Susquehanna watershed.
